Ice Cream: a Retrospective

Keeping this blog makes some things that might otherwise go unnoticed very apparent. And one of those things is this: Henry eats a lot of ice cream. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'm going to answer that question from his point of view: "it's a good thing." Regardless, ice cream does seem to be a constant theme in Henry's life, to wit:

Grandparents Come to Town

Alexis' parents came to town last weekend for a visit. By the time they left, Henry had taken them to the playground, read to them, sang to them, showed them the free samples at Costco, rooted the Tar Heels on to a win over LSU, introduced them to his Mater shoes and pointed out lots of airplanes in the sky. Also by Sunday, his bracket was a complete mess.

It wasn't Henry's birthday, but that doesn't mean you can't wear the hat, right?

March Madness

Sometimes in life you have to stop and smell the roses. And sometimes you have to stop and climb into the abandoned backhoe with your two year-old and sit in the driver's seat and make pretend engine noises.

Quick Trip

It was back to Oxford last weekend for Henry's friend Sanders' first birthday party--and a visit with Gran Gran and Pop...

Cupcakes were enjoyed by all. But that table full of presents were enjoyed by Sanders.

A pose with Sanders and Charles who took a ride in the birthday wagon. Incidentally, there is some debate in our house as to what animal is pictured on the shirt Henry is wearing in this picture. Alexis and I think it's a bear. Henry is fairly adamant that it's a monkey. The debate rages on.

What better way to top off a day of birthday cake (and dinner at Ajax) than a huge scoop of ice cream with your grandparents?

With free babysitters at our disposal, we made it out until last call...score!

Yep, more headgear. This is a great look if you ask me--football helmet on top, Mater shoes on bottom, Cars pajamas in between. I think this look may hit the runways soon, so be on the lookout.

Pizza Party

This is just your typical picture of a kid eating pizza wearing a batting helmet while holding a stuffed whale.

But obviously a whale is no match for Lightning McQueen. I would also point out how nice it was to observe a dinner party of five with no discussion of the economy.

No other way to say it: the kid enjoys protective headgear.

The PR

We just returned from spending a long weekend visiting Alexis' grandparents. Lucky for us, they spend winters at their condo in San Juan, Puerto Rico...

If only every breakfast could be enjoyed with this view.

Ready for the beach (except for still being in pajamas)!

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in and stops my mind from wondering...

It takes a good 2 or 3 days of beach time to get him into the ocean. Not so with swimming pools though. He'd eat meals and take naps in the pool if it were possible.

Being silly with Grandpa Marty, aka, "Grandpa Party." Grandpa Party also introduced Henry to fresh-squeezed orange juice which has been a frequent request even now that we're back. So Henry's already had to learn one of life's hard lessons: some of the things that you get to do on vacation have to stop when you get home...

...like eating an endless supply of lollipops and ice cream compliments of your great grandparents.
