Slumber Party

Henry's cousin Natalie spent the night at our house this past weekend. There were no pillow fights or games of Truth or Dare...

...but there was a delicious breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes.

And a couple of art projects.

And some story-telling.

And finally, the Amazing Race, which featured Natalie on a car and Henry on Thomas the Tank Engine. As this picture shows, the race ended in a draw when the two vehicles inevitably engaged in a head-on collision.

Hit the Gym

Every Thursday, Henry goes to a gymnastics class at the local YMCA. While he may not be quite old enough yet to qualify for the Olympics (ahem), he's getting pretty good at some of these individual events...

The parallel bars...

The vault...

The hula hoop...

??? I don't know what this event is called, but along with "walking like a tiger," it's his favorite. He loves to show us this move at home too, often to less than stellar results. Don't worry though, because Bela Karoli has already promised he can work out the kinks.

Viva...

We were in Las Vegas last weekend for Grandma Sylvia's 90th birthday party. We got to hang out with family...and do some other extracurricular activities.

Luck be a lady tonight: from the window of our hotel room at Planet Hollywood, Henry formulates his strategy to turn his toy truck into $1 million at the craps table.

Henry's Grandma and Grandpa stayed at the MGM Grand which has its own lazy river. Here come Henry, Alexis and cousin Shelly around the bend.

Loyal blog keepers-up may remember a picture taken in front of the Bellagio's "world's largest chocolate fountain" when Henry visited Las Vegas in March. I didn't make that trip and after seeing the picture, I expressed some doubt as to the authenticity of the claim. I'm now here to tell you that this probably is indeed the world's largest chocolate fountain...as this wider shot shows.

We're pretty bad about taking pictures of ourselves, but...here we are.

Pretty good for 90, huh?

Finally...It's Football Season

We spent Labor Day weekend in Oxford celebrating the return of football season. Thanks to the higher-ups' decision to start all home games at 6:00pm, we avoided the heat and got to take Henry to Saturday morning story time at Square Books Jr...

But he was not very interested in that particular story. Not pictured are all the other kids listening intently. I think he just had some pre-game butterflies.

Getting ready for the Grove. That truck would not be released from his hand for the next 3 hours.

He was nice enough to let us his red wagon to haul important things to the tailgate like barbeque and cheese straws.

The next day, we spent some time at Avent Park with Cousin Natalie.

Lexie, Natalie and Emmy (and Grover) entertain him during lunch.
