A Football Weekend Through the Eyes of a Three-Year-Old

Here's the story of our football weekend in Oxford through Claire's eyes, since this was the first time she's been to a game when she was old enough to know what was going on ("going on" in a wow-look-at-that! way, not in a why-is-the-safety-shading-over-to-the-wideout-in-that-formation? way).

There are lots of smiles when it's 31-0 in the second quarter.

It took a real scrubbing the next morning to wash game day off of both of them.

We hit Bottletree Bakery on Sunday morning, natch.  Yeah, that's Henry eating the filling out of his brioche with a spoon.

If I Ran the Zoo

We went to the zoo Sunday.  Many snacks were consumed.

They're like the lawn ornaments, only stinkier.

This was the first time Claire's seen an elephant since she was old enough to know what one is. She was impressed.

One of These Things Is Not Like the Others

It was not hard to spot Claire on her first day of camp.

Tooth Fairy!

Henry lost his first tooth the other day!  (He pulled it himself while eating a bowl of Rice Krispies.)

So This Happened

About that road trip? Well, Claire took advantage of Alexis and Henry napping on the way home to show us what she would look like with full-body tats. Pretty sure the one on her right arm is the Chinese character for "tranquility."

Road Trip!

How excited was Claire to take a trip to visit Gran Gran?  Enough to pack two bags and dress up in beads and sunglasses (even though it was 8:00 at night and we weren't leaving until the next day).

Meanwhile, Henry packed his own suitcase too, while singing about the 50 states.  The contents of his bag: 4 books, approx. 6 stuffed animals, an American flag, pajamas, possibly a pair of shorts and a shirt, a bunch of Beyblades with ripcords, and as this video shows, his Beyblade stadium...

Little Big League

People often ask, "what have y'all been up to?"  The answer lately has usually been, going to Henry's baseball games.

The kids rotate positions, but catcher creates the best photo op.

Action shot! Let's all just assume that immediately after this was taken, Henry caught the ball, blocked the plate, and tagged out a baserunner sliding into home.

"Take a good look, fans. Take a good look. Remember the stance...and the swing. You're not likely to see his like again."

Claire is Henry's biggest fan but when he's not batting, she has ways of keeping herself busy...

Finally: Spring

Spring finally arrived last weekend! But that also meant the beginning of the Pollen Invasion. So Claire decided it was the right time to wash her car...

...while wearing leggings and Mardi Gras beads, natch...

Meanwhile, at the end of our driveway, Henry and Jacqueline embarked on a manhole beautification project.  

(And also, if you ever glimpse this coming down the road, it's probably best to give it a very wide berth.)

The Blues

Claire either did some finger painting over the weekend with Mindy (who took this picture), or she exercised her right to vote in a newly democratic Middle Eastern country.  Either way, it looks like she was having fun!

Claire's preschool class is called the Beatles, and today they took the stage and performed this, Claire's favorite track from Revolver...

Obviously, I've been terrible about updating this blog lately.  But I finally uploaded our pictures from the last few weeks and I'm going to put some of the good ones up over the next few days...starting with these of our make-your-own pizza dinner!

Sometimes Claire picks out her own clothes in the morning.  It is usually not hard to tell when that is the case.

It's not every day the local SWAT team conducts a training exercise on your street. But when it does, you better believe the local six year old will insert himself into the situation.
